A message from our Pastor

Psalm 121-3:4

“He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep."

We are told in verses one and two that our help comes from the Lord, but how does He help us?

Firstly, ‘He will not allow our foot to be moved’. When troubles arise in our lives it is His supreme wisdom that works it all out for our good, and His Almighty power that is at work to protect us and keep us from falling. And, “when our heart is overwhelmed,” He “leads us to the Rock that is higher than” us. That Rock which cannot be moved. The Rock of our Salvation. The Rock of our Refuge. The Rock of our Strength. Our Lord and Saviour will keep us and not let us be moved from His Kingdom, nor allow anything to come between us and remove us from that special relationship that we have with Him. Oh, we may be severely shaken and our feet may have ‘well-nigh slipped’ but our God is our Rock and we are securely anchored to Him for all eternity. Therefore, in those times of trouble, we need to look to Him who is our Rock and hold onto Him knowing that He has hold of us.

Secondly, we can take comfort in the knowledge that ‘He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep’. And what a comfort that is. The Almighty God of Heaven and earth, who is our devoted Father, is ever awake and watching over us, to keep us. He never slumbers nor sleeps; He never misses a thing and, therefore, never neglects nor overlooks anything. He is aware of all that is happening to us every minute of every day of our lives; keeping us by His Almighty power, preserving us, upholding us, and guiding us by His grace. Knowing that He is keeping us and watching over us every minute, we can entrust ourselves to His care and rest peacefully in His hands.

Speaking of His Church and people our Lord says: “In that day sing to her, a vineyard of red wine! I, the Lord, keep it, I water it every moment; lest any hurt it, I keep it night and day.” Isaiah 27:2-3.
